PROFBOARD Carving Board Series 470

The Profboard carving board features a special milled groove. The carving board is also designed to fit directly over the Profboard Series 270 base.  With a carving board mounted on your Series 270 cutting board, you will have a solid base when you need to carve meat or perform other tasks. Profboard carving boards are dishware safe (see the Instructions tab for more information).

Cleaning & Maintenance

> The base board can withstand all common detergents.
> The base board, including steel legs | rubber feet | click system, can be cleaned in a dishwasher or under the tap. The base board can also withstand scalding with boiling water.
> The base board will become scratched if it is used as a carving board for hot roasts and other foods. Depending on the foods for which it is used, the area of the base board used for cutting may become discoloured through time.
> The base board will expand when subjected to heat, for example in a dishwasher. It will, however, retract to its original size when cooled. Note that the base board and cutting sheets will only fit together properly if they are at the same temperature.
> Never place hot pots or pans directly on the base board.

FAQ

FAQ

People Also Ask:

Q: What does the carving board do that the base board does not?

A: It catches the juices, and it protects the base. A rested joint releases a surprising amount of liquid, and the milled groove keeps it on the board instead of on your counter.

Q: Can I not just carve on the Profboard itself?

A: You can, but it will mark it. The base board scratches if you carve on it directly, and the cut area can discolour over time. The carving board is the surface built to take that.

Q: Does it need a Series 270 underneath?

A: Yes. It is made to sit straight onto a Series 270 base of the same size, which gives it the height and the grip that make carving safe.

Q: Why does that matter for carving?

A: Because carving is the one job where you pull a sharp knife towards yourself with force. A board that shifts while you do that is how accidents happen.

Q: Why is it black?

A: Black is the serving colour in the Profboard system, and carving is cooked food heading for the table. It is coded to its job in the same way the sheets are.

Q: Is 32.5 x 53cm big enough for a Sunday roast?

A: For a joint, a rolled roast or a chicken, comfortably. For a turkey or a very large bird, the 40 x 60 gives you the room you will actually want.

Q: Can I use it for anything else?

A: It works for anything where you want the juices contained, such as resting meat or slicing a tomato-heavy salad. It is not meant for heavy chopping, which is what the chopping board is for.

Q: What is the right way to clean a carving board?

A: In the machine, as a matter of course. It handles cooked meat that is going straight to the table, so a quick rinse is not really the standard you want to hold it to.

Q: Will it fit a Private Series 670?

A: No. The carving and chopping boards are made for the Series 270. If you have a 670 and want a groove, the 670 base already has one built in.

Q: What is the difference between this and the chopping board?

A: This one has the juice groove and is for cooked meat. The chopping board is flat to the edge, coloured red, and is for raw work where a groove would get in the way.
