Cleaning & Maintenance

> The base board can withstand all common detergents.
> The base board, including steel legs | rubber feet | click system, can be cleaned in a dishwasher or under the tap. The base board can also withstand scalding with boiling water.
> The base board will become scratched if it is used as a carving board for hot roasts and other foods. Depending on the foods for which it is used, the area of the base board used for cutting may become discoloured through time.
> The base board will expand when subjected to heat, for example in a dishwasher. It will, however, retract to its original size when cooled. Note that the base board and cutting sheets will only fit together properly if they are at the same temperature.
> Never place hot pots or pans directly on the base board.

FAQ

FAQ

People Also Ask:

Q: When do I need the larger carving board?

A: When the thing you are carving would fill the smaller one. A turkey, a large bone-in joint or a whole side of something needs space around it, not just underneath it.

Q: Why does space around it matter?

A: Because you need somewhere to put the slices. If the joint fills the board you end up carving onto a plate balanced beside it, which is exactly when juices escape.

Q: Does the bigger board hold more juice?

A: The groove runs further, so it holds more before it reaches its limit. On a large bird that is the difference between contained and running over the edge.

Q: Is it overkill for everyday use?

A: Probably, if you carve a chicken now and then. It earns its place at Christmas, at family meals and for anyone who cooks large joints regularly.

Q: What base does it need?

A: A Series 270 base at 40 x 60cm. It seats onto that, and the base is what gives it stability while you work.

Q: Can I carve at the table with it?

A: Yes, and it is designed to look right doing so. The board and base together make a stable carving station, and black is the serving colour for exactly this reason.

Q: Will it fit in the dishwasher?

A: Check your machine first. A 60cm board does not fit every dishwasher, and if it does not you will be washing a large board by hand.

Q: Is it worth having both carving sizes?

A: Most people do not need both. Pick the one that matches the largest thing you cook, since the bigger board handles small joints perfectly well.

Q: Does it work without the base?

A: It is designed to sit on the base and that is how you get the stability. Using it loose on a counter is not what it was made for.

Q: What else should I buy with it?

A: The matching Series 270 base if you do not already have one, and spare sheets for that base, since it still does your everyday prep when the carving board is off.
