PROFBOARD Chopping Board Series 470
The chopping board is convenient and will look great on a buffet table. The chopping board is also designed to fit directly over the Profboard Series 270 base. With a chopping board mounted on your Series 270 cutting board, you will have a solid base when you need to perform all chopping tasks. Profboard chopping boards are dishwasher safe (see the Instructions tab for more information).
Cleaning & Maintenance
> The base board can withstand all common detergents. > The base board, including steel legs | rubber feet | click system, can be cleaned in a dishwasher or under the tap. The base board can also withstand scalding with boiling water. > The base board will become scratched if it is used as a carving board for hot roasts and other foods. Depending on the foods for which it is used, the area of the base board used for cutting may become discoloured through time. > The base board will expand when subjected to heat, for example in a dishwasher. It will, however, retract to its original size when cooled. Note that the base board and cutting sheets will only fit together properly if they are at the same temperature. > Never place hot pots or pans directly on the base board.
Q: Who needs a 40 x 60cm chopping board?
A: Anyone breaking down large cuts, chopping in bulk, or working through a big shop in one session. At this size it stops being a board and becomes a work station.
Q: Is it more board than most people need?
A: For everyday cooking, yes. The 32.5 x 53 handles normal prep comfortably. This one is for people who regularly work at scale.
Q: What does the extra size actually give me?
A: Somewhere to put what you have already chopped. On a smaller board you clear as you go; on this one the whole job stays in front of you.
Q: Does it need the matching base?
A: Yes, a Series 270 base at 40 x 60cm. The base gives the height and the grip, and at this size that matters more, not less.
Q: Why does that matter so much?
A: Because a large board takes real force from a heavy knife. If it can move on the counter, it eventually will, and usually at the worst moment.
Q: Why red rather than a neutral colour?
A: Red is the raw meat colour in the Profboard system, and this board is almost always working raw ingredients. Anyone in the kitchen can see at a glance what it is for.
Q: Can I wash a board this size properly?
A: Only if your machine takes it, so measure before you buy. Hand washing a 60cm board is possible but it is a genuine job, and you will be doing it after every heavy prep session.
Q: Where do I put it when I am not using it?
A: Standing on edge is the usual answer. It is a large flat object and it needs a home, so think about that before it arrives.
Q: Can I use it for vegetables too?
A: You can, but it defeats the point. Keep raw meat on the red surface and use a green sheet on your base board for vegetables.
Q: What goes with it?
A: The matching base, and red sheets for that base. Volume raw work goes through the red colour faster than anything else in the set.
