Are you about to start your culinary training? Do you want to work with professional tools from the outset and experience the highest quality and sharpness? Then the ActiveCut series is the right choice for you. This series will help you master all your cutting challenges.

DURABLE SHARPNESS
X30Cr13 is the secret of the high-quality stainless steel and delivers durable sharpness thanks to its individual qualities. The forged knives in the ActiveCut series are honed twice during the final sharpening process – this gives them their special sharpness.

PERFECT FOR THE PROFESSIONAL KITCHEN
The knife fits comfortably in your hand. The handle is made of a non-slip and abrasion-resistant material, preparing you for all challenges in the kitchen. Now, wet hands and hygiene are no longer a problem. The handle and the blade are joined without gaps and therefore absolutely hygienic. In addition, the ActiveCut knives are perfectly balanced, which means that this knife's centre of gravity is exactly in the middle of the knife, between the blade and the handle. This supports you in your daily tasks and saves your strength.

MADE IN GERMANY
The ActiveCut series is made in Germany. A good knife requires many work steps. Our ActiveCut knives go through numerous production steps at our Deizisau site before they are finished. Starting with the machining of the steel and right through to the finishing of the cutting edge.

KNIFE CARE
All F. DICK knives deserve special care and attention when it comes to maintenance. Proper knife care is crucial. Knives that are forged or have a wooden handle should never be cleaned in the dishwasher. Knives with plastic handles are completely dishwasher safe; however cleaning in a dishwasher is much more aggressive than washing by hand.

The use of highly concentrated detergents, leaving the knives in hot steam for a long time and also the presence of certain food residues can lead to pitting on the blades or even corrosion. We recommend clean the knife by hand with a soft cloth and a mild alkaline detergent. Wipe your knife after cleaning to ensure that tit is thoroughly dry – this will prevent any pitting on the blade. You can occasionally maintain knives with wooden handles with food-safe oils (e.g. olive oil). The oil makes the handle nice and smooth and prevents shrinkage and cracks.

PROFESSIONAL KNIFE STORAGE
For your safety and to protect the cutting edges of the blades, we recommend that you store the knives in a suitable knife block or on a magnetic rail. When buying a knife block, make sure you buy one with enough space and horizontal slots to protect the knife blades. We recommend our own blade guard for storage in a drawer - Edge Guard. or alternatively, dimensionally accurate compartments built into the drawer.

BLADE GUARD FOR KNIVES
Blade guard – Edge Guard, the special blade guard for storage, especially in drawers. Click here to see the blade guard for blades up to 26 cm.

KNIFE BLOCK FOR KNIVES
Knife block: Knife block with tourne knife, paring knife, boning knife, carving knife, bread knife, chef's knife, meat fork, sharpening steel and kitchen shears.

HOW DO KNIVES STAY SHARP FOR A LONG TIME?
Knives stay sharp for a long time if they are only used for their intended purpose. The knives should only be used for cutting and not chopping. Bones or the like should therefore only be cut with a cleaver.

WOODEN OR PLASTIC CUTTING BASES
Hard surfaces such as stone (e.g. marble) or glass should not be used as a base, as they quickly blunt the knives.

This set combines core kitchen knife types from the ActiveCut series into a single workstation-oriented solution. It is designed for cooks who want reliable daily cutting performance without building a knife collection piece by piece. The included acrylic block keeps knives visible, accessible, and protected during service or home use. Within the Friedr. Dick lineup, the ActiveCut series is positioned as a modern forged knife collection focused on balance, control, and practical kitchen workflow. The set format is especially useful in smaller kitchens, culinary schools, café prep stations, and serious home kitchens where efficiency and space management matter.

Q: Who should use the F. Dick ActiveCut Acrylic Knife Block Set?

A: The F. Dick ActiveCut Acrylic Knife Block Set is suitable for culinary students, professional cooks, hospitality kitchens, and serious home cooks who want a coordinated forged knife set for daily prep work. The combination of multiple knife types and a compact storage block supports kitchens that handle varied prep tasks throughout the day. Instead of relying on one all-purpose knife, users can switch to the proper blade shape for vegetables, proteins, herbs, bread, and detail work. For culinary students and developing professionals, the set offers consistency in handle feel and blade balance across multiple knives. For home users, it simplifies kitchen organization while providing access to professional-grade German knife construction associated with the Friedr. Dick brand.

Q: What knives are typically included in the F. Dick ActiveCut Acrylic Knife Block Set?

A: The F. Dick ActiveCut Acrylic Knife Block Set typically includes essential kitchen knife types selected for broad day-to-day food preparation. Most configurations in this category include a chef knife, utility knife, paring knife, and bread knife housed in a transparent acrylic knife block. This combination covers the majority of kitchen prep tasks, from slicing vegetables and portioning proteins to peeling fruit and cutting crusted bread. The practical advantage of a curated set is workflow continuity. Each knife shares a similar ergonomic profile and cutting feel, which helps reduce adjustment time during prep. The acrylic block also keeps blades separated and protected between uses.

Q: How does the ActiveCut series perform in daily kitchen prep?

A: The ActiveCut series is designed for consistent daily cutting performance with a balance of sharpness, edge stability, and ergonomic handling. Friedr. Dick positions ActiveCut as a forged professional-style knife series intended for repeated kitchen use. The knives are shaped to support controlled slicing, rocking cuts, and detail work while maintaining a comfortable grip during extended prep sessions. For cooks handling repetitive cutting tasks, balance and handle comfort become as important as sharpness itself. The ActiveCut series focuses on that practical workflow experience rather than decorative presentation alone.

Q: Is the F. Dick ActiveCut Knife Block Set suitable for professional kitchens?

A: Yes. The F. Dick ActiveCut Knife Block Set is suitable for many professional kitchen environments, especially prep-focused stations and moderate-volume operations. The forged construction, professional knife profiles, and ergonomic handling characteristics align with the needs of chefs, line cooks, culinary instructors, and hospitality teams. The included knife selection also supports common commercial prep workflows without requiring additional specialty blades immediately. In higher-volume kitchens, many chefs may eventually supplement the set with specialized butcher, filleting, or carving knives. However, for foundational prep work, the ActiveCut set provides a strong professional starting point.

Q: What results should users expect from the ActiveCut knife series?

A: Users should expect controlled cutting performance, reliable edge retention, and comfortable handling across everyday prep applications. The geometry of professional German-style kitchen knives supports efficient slicing, chopping, and portioning with less resistance during cutting. When properly maintained, the blades are designed to deliver repeatable performance across vegetables, herbs, proteins, sandwiches, fruit, and bakery items. The consistency between knives in the set also improves workflow familiarity. That matters in both professional and home kitchens where speed, confidence, and precision contribute directly to prep efficiency.

Q: Is the acrylic knife block practical for busy kitchens?

A: Yes. The acrylic knife block is practical for kitchens that value visibility, organization, and compact countertop storage. Unlike enclosed wood blocks, transparent acrylic construction allows users to quickly identify and access the correct knife during prep. This can improve workflow speed in fast-moving kitchens or teaching environments where multiple users share the same station. The block also helps protect knife edges by keeping blades separated during storage. Proper storage reduces accidental edge damage that can occur when knives are left loose in drawers or prep containers.

Q: How durable is the F. Dick ActiveCut Acrylic Knife Block Set?

A: The F. Dick ActiveCut Acrylic Knife Block Set is built for long-term kitchen use when maintained correctly. Friedr. Dick is known for producing professional culinary tools designed for repeated use in demanding foodservice environments. The forged blade construction and ergonomic handles are intended to withstand continuous prep applications while maintaining control and balance over time. Durability also depends on care practices. Regular honing, proper hand washing, safe storage, and the use of appropriate cutting surfaces all contribute to preserving blade performance and handle condition.

Q: How should the knives in the ActiveCut set be maintained?

A: The knives should be hand washed, dried immediately after cleaning, and maintained regularly with proper honing or sharpening tools. Professional kitchen knives perform best when edge maintenance is consistent rather than occasional. Regular honing helps preserve alignment between sharpening intervals, while proper sharpening restores long-term cutting performance. Users should also avoid hard cutting surfaces such as glass, stone, or metal. Soft cutting boards help protect the blade edge and extend sharpening intervals.

Q: Can the acrylic knife block scratch or cloud over time?

A: Like most acrylic kitchen accessories, the block may develop surface marks or light clouding over time with heavy use and repeated cleaning. This is primarily a cosmetic consideration rather than a structural one. Careful cleaning with non-abrasive cloths and mild detergents helps preserve clarity and appearance. In commercial kitchens, some users prefer acrylic specifically because it allows quick visual inspection and complements modern kitchen aesthetics.

Q: Is the F. Dick ActiveCut Acrylic Knife Block Set good for culinary students?

A: Yes. The set is well suited for culinary students because it provides multiple foundational knife types within a single coordinated system. Students benefit from learning proper knife selection early in their training. Having dedicated blades for prep, detail work, bread, and general cutting helps reinforce professional workflow habits and improves cutting technique development. The organized storage block also supports smaller apartments, shared kitchens, and culinary school environments where space efficiency matters.

Q: Is this knife set better for home cooks or professionals?

A: The set works well for both serious home cooks and professional users, though each group benefits differently from the design. Professional users typically value workflow consistency, edge performance, and ergonomic handling during repetitive prep. Home cooks often prioritize organization, durability, and access to professional-grade tools without assembling a collection individually. Because the set balances performance and accessibility, it fits particularly well between entry-level kitchen sets and ultra-specialized professional knife systems.

Q: Does the ActiveCut Knife Block Set save counter space?

A: Yes. The acrylic block format is designed to keep multiple knives organized within a compact countertop footprint. This is especially useful in smaller kitchens, prep stations, cafés, condominiums, and culinary school setups where storage efficiency matters. Vertical knife storage also improves accessibility compared with drawer-based storage systems. Keeping knives visible and organized can additionally reduce unnecessary handling and help maintain safer kitchen workflow practices.

Q: How does the ActiveCut series compare to entry-level knife sets?

A: The ActiveCut series generally offers a more professional handling experience, forged construction characteristics, and stronger long-term workflow performance than many entry-level kitchen knife sets. Entry-level sets often prioritize quantity over practical knife selection or balance. The ActiveCut approach focuses more on core kitchen functionality, ergonomic comfort, and cutting consistency. For users progressing beyond basic consumer kitchen tools, the ActiveCut series provides a more professional transition into German-style culinary knives.

Q: How does the ActiveCut series compare to premium Friedr. Dick collections like 1905 or 1778?

A: The ActiveCut series focuses on practical modern performance, while premium collections such as 1905 and 1778 place greater emphasis on heritage detailing, premium finishing, and signature design elements. All three collections are rooted in Friedr. Dick’s professional knife philosophy, but the user experience differs slightly. ActiveCut is more streamlined and utility-driven, while 1905 and 1778 target users seeking elevated craftsmanship presentation alongside performance. For many kitchens, ActiveCut delivers the core cutting functionality professionals need without moving into collector-oriented pricing tiers.

Q: Is the ActiveCut Knife Block Set a practical first professional knife set?

A: Yes. The ActiveCut Knife Block Set is a practical first professional knife set because it covers core prep tasks while helping users build proper knife workflow habits. Students and developing cooks often need a manageable knife system that balances professional performance with straightforward maintenance. The included knife selection supports common culinary prep applications without requiring multiple specialty purchases immediately. The acrylic block also helps protect blades during transport between kitchens, apartments, and training environments.

Q: Can the ActiveCut Knife Block Set handle repeated daily prep?

A: Yes. The ActiveCut Knife Block Set is designed to support repeated prep work in active kitchen environments. Professional users benefit from the forged blade feel, ergonomic consistency, and organized access to core knife types throughout service preparation. The set is especially effective for prep stations, garde manger work, cafés, catering support kitchens, and smaller brigade operations. Many chefs may later add specialized knives, but the foundational cutting tasks are well covered within this configuration.

Q: Does the ActiveCut Knife Block Set improve kitchen organization?

A: Yes. The set improves kitchen organization by combining essential knife types with protected countertop storage in a single compact system. Instead of storing loose knives in drawers, users can keep the most frequently used kitchen tools visible and accessible during cooking. This supports cleaner workflow and safer handling while also protecting blade edges from unnecessary contact damage. For home cooks investing in long-term kitchen tools, organized storage is often as important as the knives themselves.

Q: Is the ActiveCut Knife Block Set suitable for open kitchens or visible prep areas?

A: Yes. The acrylic block presentation and modern knife styling make the set suitable for visible prep environments where organization and presentation matter. Open kitchens, café counters, culinary classrooms, and tasting environments often benefit from cleaner visual organization. The transparent block creates a more contemporary presentation than traditional enclosed wood blocks while maintaining functional accessibility. The knife selection also supports the broad prep requirements common in café and hospitality operations.

Q: Why choose a knife block set instead of individual knives?

A: A knife block set simplifies kitchen workflow by providing coordinated knife selection, organized storage, and consistent handling characteristics across multiple prep tasks. For many buyers, assembling individual knives requires additional research into blade types, balance preferences, and storage solutions. A professionally curated set removes much of that uncertainty while ensuring the knives work together as a cohesive prep system. This approach is particularly valuable for kitchens prioritizing efficiency, consistency, and space management.
