GREAT KNIVES IN SUPPORT OF A GREAT CAUSE
The Pink Spirit series coincides with an initiative that is very special to us. CookUP will be donating between $5 and $50 from the sale of each Pink Spirit knife and knife set to the Canadian Cancer Society in support of womens’ cancer research. Sold individually or as a complete (4) piece set, the Pink Spirit knife series will make a proud addition to any professional or home kitchen.

AN EXTRAORDINARY FEEL IN PINK
The round, typically Asian-inspired handle has an unusual feel to it. It sits perfectly in your hand and meets all the ergonomic requirements of professional chefs and ambitious amateur chefs. The non-slip handle made of high-quality plastic allows you to guide the knife harmoniously and comfortably – a particular advantage during intensive use.

The jagged, serrated blade edge distinguishes our bread knife in the Pink Spirit series. Whether tender wheat bread or crusty rye bread, our bread knife effortlessly produces neat slices cut after cut. The bread knife also cuts hard-shelled fruit and vegetables precisely and cleanly, such as pumpkin, cabbage or quince. The Pink Spirit series works with a contrast in design: the knife handle is harmonious, and round while the cutting edge is clear, precise and sharp. The 26 cm long blade is made of X50CrMoV15 and designed with outstanding sharpness. The pink handle is made of plastic. The balanced hardness of 56 HRC guarantees perfect edge retention and easy re-sharpening at the same time. Made by Friedr. Dick. Made in Germany.

MADE IN GERMANY
A good knife requires many work steps. Our Red Spirit knives go through numerous production steps at our Deizisau site before they are finished. Starting with the machining of the steel and right through to the finishing of the cutting edge, everything made in Germany – for the love of quality.

UNCOMPROMISING SHARPNESS
The blades are designed with an uncompromising eye for sharpness, which is why they are ground extra slim. Like all our knives, the Pink Spirit series is made of high-alloy stainless steel, so you can take pleasure in the edge retention of your knives for years to come.

KNIFE CARE
All F. DICK knives deserve special care and attention when it comes to maintenance. Proper knife care is crucial. Knives that are forged or have a wooden handle should never be cleaned in the dishwasher. Knives with plastic handles are completely dishwasher safe; however cleaning in a dishwasher is much more aggressive than washing by hand.

The use of highly concentrated detergents, leaving the knives in hot steam for a long time and also the presence of certain food residues can lead to pitting on the blades or even corrosion. We recommend clean the knife by hand with a soft cloth and a mild alkaline detergent. Wipe your knife after cleaning to ensure that tit is thoroughly dry – this will prevent any pitting on the blade. You can occasionally maintain knives with wooden handles with food-safe oils (e.g. olive oil). The oil makes the handle nice and smooth and prevents shrinkage and cracks.

PROFESSIONAL KNIFE STORAGE
For your safety and to protect the cutting edges of the blades, we recommend that you store the knives in a suitable knife block or on a magnetic rail. When buying a knife block, make sure you buy one with enough space and horizontal slots to protect the knife blades. We recommend our own blade guard for storage in a drawer - Edge Guard. or alternatively, dimensionally accurate compartments built into the drawer.

BLADE GUARD FOR KNIVES
Blade guard – Edge Guard, the special blade guard for storage, especially in drawers. Click here to see the blade guard for blades up to 26 cm.

KNIFE BLOCK FOR KNIVES
Knife block: Knife block with tourne knife, paring knife, boning knife, carving knife, bread knife, chef's knife, meat fork, sharpening steel and kitchen shears.

HOW DO KNIVES STAY SHARP FOR A LONG TIME?
Knives stay sharp for a long time if they are only used for their intended purpose. The knives should only be used for cutting and not chopping. Bones or the like should therefore only be cut with a cleaver.

WOODEN OR PLASTIC CUTTING BASES
Hard surfaces such as stone (e.g. marble) or glass should not be used as a base, as they quickly blunt the knives.

FAQ

FAQ

People Also Ask:

Q: What is the F. Dick Pink Spirit Bread Knife Serrated 10" best for?

A: The F. Dick Pink Spirit Bread Knife Serrated 10" is best for slicing crusty bread, artisan loaves, brioche, bagels, and delicate baked goods with controlled pressure and minimal tearing. Its long serrated blade is designed to cut through hard crusts while preserving the soft interior structure of the product. This matters in both professional kitchens and serious home environments where presentation, consistency, and speed are important. A properly designed bread knife reduces crushing and helps maintain cleaner portions during service or prep. The Pink Spirit series combines the cutting geometry associated with the Red Spirit platform with a more distinctive visual identity. For chefs, bakers, culinary students, and dedicated home cooks, this creates a knife that remains highly functional while standing out within a knife roll or prep station.

Q: Who should use the F. Dick Pink Spirit Bread Knife Serrated 10"?

A: This knife is well suited to bakers, pastry professionals, prep cooks, culinary students, and serious home cooks who regularly work with bread and baked products. In commercial kitchens, a serrated bread knife is often used throughout the day for slicing sandwich loaves, plated bread service, pastries, and layered baked items. The 10" blade length supports longer slicing strokes, which helps produce cleaner cuts with less sawing pressure. For home users, the knife offers professional-level control without requiring advanced sharpening knowledge typically associated with straight-edge blades. The ergonomic Pink Spirit handle also supports extended prep sessions with a secure grip.

Q: What makes the F. Dick Pink Spirit Bread Knife different from a standard chef knife?

A: The primary difference is the serrated blade design, which is optimized for crusted or delicate surfaces rather than general chopping. A chef knife uses a smooth edge intended for push cuts, rocking cuts, and precision prep. A bread knife uses serrations to grip and cut through tough exteriors without compressing softer interiors. This makes it more effective for breads, tomatoes, cakes, and certain fruits with delicate textures. The Pink Spirit Bread Knife is also longer than many standard chef knives, allowing smoother slicing motion across wide loaves and larger baked items.

Q: Can the F. Dick Pink Spirit Bread Knife handle artisan sourdough and crusty loaves?

A: Yes. The serrated edge and extended blade length are specifically suited to artisan breads with thick or dense crusts. Hard-crusted sourdough can be difficult to slice cleanly using a straight-edge knife because excessive downward pressure compresses the loaf. The serrations on the Pink Spirit Bread Knife help initiate the cut more efficiently while maintaining better control through the full slicing motion. This is especially useful in bakeries, brunch operations, cafés, and home baking environments where consistent slices improve both presentation and portioning.

Q: Is the F. Dick Pink Spirit Bread Knife suitable for professional kitchens?

A: Yes. The knife is designed around the same practical performance principles associated with Friedr. Dick’s professional kitchen lines. Professional environments require knives that remain comfortable during repetitive use while maintaining predictable cutting performance. The Pink Spirit series supports that workflow with ergonomic handling, balanced construction, and a blade profile intended for repeated slicing tasks. The 10" format is particularly useful in sandwich stations, bakery prep, catering operations, and breakfast service where larger bread products are handled frequently.

Q: Is the F. Dick Pink Spirit Bread Knife beginner-friendly?

A: Yes. Serrated bread knives are generally approachable for less experienced users because they require less advanced cutting technique than many fine-edge knives. The longer blade helps guide smoother slicing strokes, while the serrations reduce the need for force when cutting through crusted products. This can help newer users achieve cleaner results with more confidence. For culinary students or home cooks building a serious knife collection, a dedicated bread knife is often one of the most practical additions after a chef knife and paring knife.

Q: How sharp is the F. Dick Pink Spirit Bread Knife Serrated 10"?

A: The knife is designed to deliver aggressive, controlled slicing performance suitable for professional food preparation. Serrated knives function differently from straight-edge knives. Instead of relying solely on a razor-fine polished edge, the serrations grip and separate the surface during the cutting motion. This allows the knife to maintain effective cutting performance over extended periods, especially when used on bread and baked products. Friedr. Dick is known for producing knives intended for real kitchen use, where durability and cutting consistency matter as much as initial sharpness.

Q: What results should users expect from the F. Dick Pink Spirit Bread Knife?

A: Users should expect cleaner slices, less crushing of soft interiors, and improved control when cutting baked goods. A properly designed bread knife reduces tearing and uneven pressure during slicing. This improves visual presentation while also supporting more consistent portions in service environments. The long blade profile also helps reduce excessive back-and-forth motion, which can improve efficiency during repetitive prep tasks.

Q: Is the F. Dick Pink Spirit Bread Knife comfortable for long prep sessions?

A: Yes. The ergonomic handle shape is designed to support stable grip and controlled handling during repeated use. In bakery and foodservice environments, bread knives are often used continuously during prep or service periods. Handle comfort becomes important because excessive wrist strain or unstable grip can reduce consistency and increase fatigue. The Pink Spirit handle profile helps provide a secure feel while maintaining the distinctive visual identity of the series.

Q: Does the 10" blade length provide advantages over shorter bread knives?

A: Yes. A 10" bread knife generally allows smoother slicing strokes and better coverage across larger products. Shorter blades may require multiple cutting motions to move through wide loaves or cakes, which can create uneven slices or tearing. A longer blade improves cutting flow and helps maintain cleaner presentation. This becomes especially important in bakery production, catering, sandwich assembly, and plated service environments.

Q: Can the F. Dick Pink Spirit Bread Knife be used for foods other than bread?

A: Yes. Serrated bread knives are also commonly used for tomatoes, cakes, pastries, melons, citrus, and delicate produce with firm exteriors. The serrated edge helps grip slippery or delicate surfaces without crushing softer interiors. This makes the knife useful beyond bakery applications and adds versatility within a professional or home kitchen setup. Many chefs also use serrated knives for layered desserts and soft-skinned fruits where a straight-edge knife may drag or compress the product.

Q: Is the F. Dick Pink Spirit Bread Knife easy to maintain?

A: Yes, although serrated knives require different maintenance practices than straight-edge knives. Because the serrations do much of the cutting work, bread knives often retain practical cutting performance for long periods under normal use. However, sharpening serrations is more specialized and may require professional sharpening equipment or service. Regular hand washing, proper drying, and safe storage help maintain both edge condition and handle appearance over time.

Q: Can the F. Dick Pink Spirit Bread Knife be stored in a knife roll or magnetic rack?

A: Yes. The knife is compatible with most professional knife storage systems designed for longer blades. Many chefs store bread knives in knife rolls, blade guards, magnetic racks, or dedicated knife blocks. Because serrated edges can contact surrounding tools during transport, protective storage is recommended to preserve edge condition and improve safety. The distinctive Pink Spirit handle also makes the knife easier to identify quickly within shared prep environments.

Q: What is included with the F. Dick Pink Spirit Bread Knife Serrated 10"?

A: The product includes the Pink Spirit serrated bread knife itself with the integrated ergonomic handle construction. The knife is intended as an individual professional kitchen tool rather than a boxed multi-piece set. Buyers often pair it with chef knives, paring knives, and utility knives from the broader Pink Spirit or Red Spirit collections for workflow consistency.

Q: Are there other knife types available in the F. Dick Pink Spirit series?

A: Yes. The Pink Spirit series is part of a broader professional knife family that includes multiple blade formats and kitchen applications. Depending on availability, users may find complementary knife types suited to prep, carving, slicing, and general chef work. This allows cooks to maintain consistent ergonomics and visual identity across their knife setup. For users already familiar with Red Spirit knives, Pink Spirit offers a closely related handling experience with a different aesthetic presentation.

Q: How does the F. Dick Pink Spirit Bread Knife compare to the Red Spirit Bread Knife?

A: The overall cutting profile and functional philosophy are very similar because the Pink Spirit line builds on the Red Spirit platform. Both series focus on ergonomic handling, professional kitchen usability, and practical cutting performance. The primary difference is the visual identity and presentation style of the handle design. Users choosing between the two often make the decision based on aesthetic preference, kitchen branding, or personal tool organization.

Q: How does the F. Dick Pink Spirit Bread Knife compare to lower-cost bread knives?

A: The Pink Spirit Bread Knife is positioned as a professional-grade cutting tool rather than a basic consumer utility knife. Lower-cost bread knives may initially appear similar, but differences often emerge in balance, handle ergonomics, blade consistency, edge retention, and long-term durability. Professional users typically notice these differences during repetitive prep work and higher-volume service. Friedr. Dick’s professional kitchen heritage also contributes to the knife’s emphasis on practical daily use rather than purely decorative positioning.

Q: Is the F. Dick Pink Spirit Bread Knife a good first professional bread knife?

A: Yes. It offers professional cutting performance while remaining approachable for developing knife skills. Culinary students often benefit from building a foundational knife kit that covers essential prep tasks. A dedicated bread knife expands versatility beyond standard chef knife work and improves handling of baked products, pastries, and delicate produce. The ergonomic design and recognizable visual identity also help students maintain organization within shared culinary environments.

Q: Is the F. Dick Pink Spirit Bread Knife reliable for daily service prep?

A: Yes. The knife is designed for repetitive slicing tasks commonly found in bakery, café, and sandwich-service workflows. Consistent bread slicing affects presentation, portion control, and production speed. The long serrated blade helps maintain smoother cuts during high-volume prep while reducing product compression. This makes the knife particularly practical for artisan bread service, sandwich assembly, pastry slicing, and brunch operations.

Q: Is the F. Dick Pink Spirit Bread Knife worth adding to a home knife collection?

A: Yes. A dedicated bread knife significantly improves handling of crusted breads and delicate baked goods compared with using a standard chef knife. Many home cooks initially rely on a chef knife for nearly everything, but bread products often benefit from serrated cutting geometry. A purpose-built bread knife improves control, presentation, and ease of use for common kitchen tasks. The Pink Spirit series also appeals to users who want professional-grade performance with a more distinctive visual style.
