PROFESSIONALS TRUST US – FOR A LIFETIME
The knife is the extension of the chef's arm. With the Premier Plus series, your knife works practically by itself. This gives you time not only to concentrate on your craft, but also to give your creativity free rein to create exciting dishes. This is exactly what trained professional chefs and our top chefs appreciate about the F. DICK brand - quality that will accompany you for a lifetime.

FORGED BALANCE
All Premier Plus knives are forged and perfectly balanced. Already during the development of the knives, we placed special emphasis on optimising the weight distribution between the blade and the handle so that the knife feels light and comfortable in your hand. Imagine your handle is too heavy or your blade too heavy. Your knife would always tend towards the heavy side and you would have to fight against the weight when cutting. This will certainly not happen with Premier Plus knives.

SHARP
The blade is made of the high quality X50CrMoV15 steel alloy. Each component of this steel has its own impressive features. Thanks to the high carbon content, the edge retains its sharpness for a particularly long time, the chromium content reduces wear and the molybdenum makes your knife particularly corrosion-resistant. We have also decided to polish the cutting edge to give the knives a special sharpness. Premier Plus knives are uncompromising in their design when it comes to sharpness. The food is cut exactly and not broken or squashed. This way, you work with precise, clean cuts, allowing the variety of flavours in the dish to come to the fore.

ERGONOMIC HANDLE
The Premier Plus knives support you in your kitchen adventures. Our special handle concept also speaks for itself: The handle and blade are joined together without gaps, making them particularly hygienic and easy to maintain. The handle feels comfortable and adapts to your hand thanks to its ergonomic design. This is important to prevent your hand from tiring quickly when you use the knife for a long time.

KNIFE CARE
All F. DICK knives deserve special care and attention when it comes to maintenance. Proper knife care is crucial. Knives that are forged or have a wooden handle should never be cleaned in the dishwasher. Knives with plastic handles are completely dishwasher safe; however cleaning in a dishwasher is much more aggressive than washing by hand.

The use of highly concentrated detergents, leaving the knives in hot steam for a long time and also the presence of certain food residues can lead to pitting on the blades or even corrosion. We recommend clean the knife by hand with a soft cloth and a mild alkaline detergent. Wipe your knife after cleaning to ensure that tit is thoroughly dry – this will prevent any pitting on the blade. You can occasionally maintain knives with wooden handles with food-safe oils (e.g. olive oil). The oil makes the handle nice and smooth and prevents shrinkage and cracks.

PROFESSIONAL KNIFE STORAGE
For your safety and to protect the cutting edges of the blades, we recommend that you store the knives in a suitable knife block or on a magnetic rail. When buying a knife block, make sure you buy one with enough space and horizontal slots to protect the knife blades. We recommend our own blade guard for storage in a drawer - Edge Guard. or alternatively, dimensionally accurate compartments built into the drawer.

KNIFE BLOCK FOR KNIVES
Knife block: Knife block with tourne knife, paring knife, boning knife, carving knife, bread knife, chef's knife, meat fork, sharpening steel and kitchen shears.

HOW DO KNIVES STAY SHARP FOR A LONG TIME?
Knives stay sharp for a long time if they are only used for their intended purpose. The knives should only be used for cutting and not chopping. Bones or the like should therefore only be cut with a cleaver.

WOODEN OR PLASTIC CUTTING BASES
Hard surfaces such as stone (e.g. marble) or glass should not be used as a base, as they quickly blunt the knives.

FAQ

FAQ

People Also Ask:

Q: What is the F. Dick Premier Plus Ham Knife Flex 11" best used for?

A: The F. Dick Premier Plus Ham Knife Flex 11" is designed for long, precise slicing of ham, roast meats, smoked proteins, and large cooked cuts where clean presentation and minimal tearing matter. Its long blade helps create smooth slicing strokes with fewer interruptions, which is important when portioning deli meats, carving whole hams, or preparing buffet service proteins. The flexible blade construction allows the knife to follow the contours of the product more naturally than a rigid slicer, helping reduce waste and improve yield consistency. Within the Premier Plus series, this knife is positioned as a forged professional slicing tool intended for repeated service use. It is especially useful in butcher shops, hotel carving stations, catering operations, and professional kitchens where large-format proteins are sliced regularly.

Q: Who should use the F. Dick Premier Plus Ham Knife Flex 11"?

A: The F. Dick Premier Plus Ham Knife Flex 11" is best suited to chefs, butchers, catering teams, deli operators, and serious home cooks who regularly slice large cooked or cured meats. Professional users benefit from the knife’s long reach, forged balance, and flexible blade control during repetitive prep or carving work. It supports smoother slicing motions and more uniform portions during high-volume service. For experienced home cooks, the knife provides cleaner presentation for holiday roasts, smoked brisket, ham, turkey, and similar larger proteins where shorter chef knives can struggle to maintain even slices.

Q: What makes the Premier Plus series different from other F. Dick knife lines?

A: The Premier Plus series focuses on classic forged German knife construction with a traditional professional feel, strong balance, and long-term durability. Compared with more visually distinctive series like Red Spirit or 1905, Premier Plus emphasizes practical professional utility and familiar handling characteristics. Many chefs prefer this style because it feels stable and predictable during long prep sessions. The forged construction also contributes to weight distribution and edge stability, which are especially important when using longer slicing knives for continuous carving or portioning tasks.

Q: Can the F. Dick Premier Plus Ham Knife Flex 11" handle large carving and buffet service applications?

A: Yes. The long flexible blade is specifically suited to carving stations, buffet slicing, and high-volume meat service where long continuous cuts improve presentation and consistency. The 11" blade length allows operators to slice larger proteins with fewer sawing motions, helping preserve texture and appearance. This is especially useful for ham, roast beef, turkey breast, smoked meats, and cured proteins. In hospitality environments, the flexible profile also helps maintain smoother contact against uneven surfaces or rounded cuts.

Q: Is the F. Dick Premier Plus Ham Knife Flex 11" suitable for professional kitchens?

A: Yes. The knife is designed for professional culinary environments where precision slicing and repeated daily use are expected. The forged Premier Plus construction supports durability and stable handling during extended prep work. The ergonomic handle design also helps improve grip security during repetitive slicing tasks. This knife is particularly well suited to banquet kitchens, butcher counters, catering operations, hotels, and delicatessens where large proteins are portioned regularly throughout service.

Q: Is the F. Dick Premier Plus Ham Knife Flex 11" suitable for beginners?

A: The knife can be used by beginners, but it performs best in the hands of users who are comfortable working with longer slicing knives. Its flexible 11" blade provides excellent carving performance, but proper slicing technique improves control and results. Users transitioning from shorter chef knives may require a short adjustment period. For serious home cooks interested in improving carving precision and presentation, the knife offers a professional-grade upgrade once basic knife handling skills are established.

Q: How flexible is the F. Dick Premier Plus Ham Knife Flex 11"?

A: The blade offers moderate flexibility intended to improve slicing control around larger cuts without becoming unstable during straight carving motions. This flexibility helps the blade glide more naturally along the surface of ham, roast beef, or smoked meats while maintaining consistent slice thickness. Compared with rigid slicers, a flexible ham knife can reduce tearing and improve presentation quality. The balance between flexibility and blade stability makes it practical for both buffet carving and back-of-house portioning work.

Q: What results should users expect from the F. Dick Premier Plus Ham Knife Flex 11"?

A: Users should expect cleaner slices, improved presentation, and more controlled portioning when working with large cooked or cured proteins. The long blade length minimizes excessive sawing motions, while the flexible profile helps maintain smoother contact during slicing. This often results in more uniform cuts and less product damage. For professional kitchens and catering teams, these handling characteristics can also support more consistent yield control during service.

Q: How does the long blade improve slicing performance?

A: A longer slicing blade allows the user to complete cuts in fewer motions, which helps preserve the structure and appearance of the product. With shorter knives, operators often need repeated back-and-forth strokes that can tear softer proteins or disrupt presentation. The 11" profile provides a longer cutting path that supports cleaner slicing through ham, brisket, roast beef, and similar products. This is especially valuable in carving stations and plated presentation environments where visual consistency matters.

Q: Is the F. Dick Premier Plus Ham Knife Flex 11" comfortable for extended prep work?

A: Yes. The Premier Plus series is designed with professional ergonomics intended for repeated daily use. The handle shape supports secure grip positioning during long slicing sessions, while the forged construction contributes to balanced weight distribution. These characteristics help reduce fatigue during repetitive carving tasks. For culinary teams performing high-volume slicing throughout service, consistent handling can improve both comfort and precision.

Q: How durable is the F. Dick Premier Plus Ham Knife Flex 11"?

A: The knife is built for long-term professional use with forged construction intended to withstand repeated kitchen service. Premier Plus knives are designed around professional workflow requirements where edge stability, balance, and reliability matter over time. With proper maintenance and sharpening practices, the knife is suitable for intensive culinary environments. Like most precision slicing knives, performance depends heavily on proper storage, sharpening discipline, and appropriate cutting surfaces.

Q: Does the F. Dick Premier Plus Ham Knife Flex 11" require special sharpening?

A: No special sharpening system is required, but regular maintenance helps preserve slicing performance. Because this knife is designed for precision carving and slicing, maintaining a consistent edge is important for clean cuts and reduced tearing. Many professional kitchens pair forged slicing knives with sharpening steels and periodic professional sharpening schedules. Using appropriate cutting boards and avoiding frozen products also helps preserve edge life.

Q: Can the F. Dick Premier Plus Ham Knife Flex 11" be used for raw proteins?

A: Yes. The knife can be used for both cooked and raw proteins, especially larger cuts that benefit from long slicing strokes. Its primary strength remains precision slicing rather than heavy fabrication or bone work. For trimming around bones or breaking down primals, a boning knife or butcher knife would typically be more appropriate. For portioning loins, briskets, roasts, and cured meats, the long flexible blade performs particularly well.

Q: What cutting boards work best with the F. Dick Premier Plus Ham Knife Flex 11"?

A: Professional-grade food-safe cutting boards with stable surfaces are recommended to help protect the edge and maintain slicing control. Boards designed for commercial prep environments reduce unnecessary edge wear and support smoother slicing performance. Hard surfaces such as glass, stone, or metal should generally be avoided because they accelerate dulling. For carving stations and buffet applications, larger boards help accommodate the full slicing motion of the 11" blade.

Q: What accessories pair well with the F. Dick Premier Plus Ham Knife Flex 11"?

A: The knife pairs well with sharpening steels, knife bags, magnetic storage systems, and carving forks designed for professional slicing workflows. A sharpening steel helps maintain edge alignment between full sharpenings, while proper storage protects the long blade during transport and service. Many chefs also pair long slicing knives with carving forks for greater stability during buffet or banquet carving. Within the broader F. Dick ecosystem, sharpening tools and storage accessories are designed to support long-term professional knife maintenance.

Q: What is included with the F. Dick Premier Plus Ham Knife Flex 11"?

A: The knife is supplied as an individual forged slicing knife within the Premier Plus series. Packaging and accessory configurations may vary depending on distributor or commercial purchasing arrangements. The primary focus is the knife itself rather than bundled accessory kits. Operators typically integrate the knife into existing knife rolls, carving stations, or professional prep setups.

Q: How does the F. Dick Premier Plus Ham Knife Flex 11" compare to a standard carving knife?

A: The flexible blade design provides more adaptability when slicing around rounded or uneven proteins compared with many rigid carving knives. A standard carving knife may offer slightly more rigidity for straight cuts, while the flexible ham knife improves contour-following performance and presentation on softer or curved products. For operators focused on ham, smoked meats, roast proteins, or buffet carving, the flexible profile often provides better control and cleaner visual results.

Q: How does the F. Dick Premier Plus Ham Knife Flex 11" compare to slicers from brands like Victorinox or Zwilling?

A: The F. Dick Premier Plus Ham Knife Flex 11" follows a traditional forged German professional approach focused on balance, durability, and repeated service use. Compared with lighter stamped alternatives commonly used in commercial kitchens, the forged Premier Plus construction provides a more substantial in-hand feel and stable balance during long slicing sessions. Compared with some premium forged competitors, Premier Plus emphasizes practical professional utility over decorative styling. For chefs and butchers who prefer classic forged handling characteristics, Premier Plus remains strongly aligned with traditional professional kitchen workflows.

Q: Is the F. Dick Premier Plus Ham Knife Flex 11" reliable during high-volume banquet service?

A: Yes. The knife is designed for repetitive slicing work where consistency, clean presentation, and efficient carving are important during service. The long flexible blade supports smooth carving motions across large proteins, while the forged construction helps maintain stable handling during extended use. In banquet and buffet environments, this contributes to more consistent portioning and cleaner presentation across multiple servings. Its handling characteristics are particularly valuable when carving stations remain active for extended service periods.

Q: Does the F. Dick Premier Plus Ham Knife Flex 11" improve holiday carving and presentation?

A: Yes. The knife is especially useful for large-format meals where presentation and clean slicing matter. Compared with shorter chef knives, the long flexible blade produces smoother cuts through ham, turkey, roast beef, and smoked meats with less tearing. This helps maintain cleaner serving portions and a more professional presentation at the table. For home cooks investing in professional-grade carving tools, the knife offers a substantial upgrade in slicing control and overall finish quality.
