PROFESSIONALS TRUST US – FOR A LIFETIME
The knife is the extension of the chef's arm. With the Premier Plus series, your knife works practically by itself. This gives you time not only to concentrate on your craft, but also to give your creativity free rein to create exciting dishes. This is exactly what trained professional chefs and our top chefs appreciate about the F. DICK brand - quality that will accompany you for a lifetime.

FORGED BALANCE
All Premier Plus knives are forged and perfectly balanced. Already during the development of the knives, we placed special emphasis on optimising the weight distribution between the blade and the handle so that the knife feels light and comfortable in your hand. Imagine your handle is too heavy or your blade too heavy. Your knife would always tend towards the heavy side and you would have to fight against the weight when cutting. This will certainly not happen with Premier Plus knives.

SHARP
The blade is made of the high quality X50CrMoV15 steel alloy. Each component of this steel has its own impressive features. Thanks to the high carbon content, the edge retains its sharpness for a particularly long time, the chromium content reduces wear and the molybdenum makes your knife particularly corrosion-resistant. We have also decided to polish the cutting edge to give the knives a special sharpness. Premier Plus knives are uncompromising in their design when it comes to sharpness. The food is cut exactly and not broken or squashed. This way, you work with precise, clean cuts, allowing the variety of flavours in the dish to come to the fore.

ERGONOMIC HANDLE
The Premier Plus knives support you in your kitchen adventures. Our special handle concept also speaks for itself: The handle and blade are joined together without gaps, making them particularly hygienic and easy to maintain. The handle feels comfortable and adapts to your hand thanks to its ergonomic design. This is important to prevent your hand from tiring quickly when you use the knife for a long time.

KNIFE CARE
All F. DICK knives deserve special care and attention when it comes to maintenance. Proper knife care is crucial. Knives that are forged or have a wooden handle should never be cleaned in the dishwasher. Knives with plastic handles are completely dishwasher safe; however cleaning in a dishwasher is much more aggressive than washing by hand.

The use of highly concentrated detergents, leaving the knives in hot steam for a long time and also the presence of certain food residues can lead to pitting on the blades or even corrosion. We recommend clean the knife by hand with a soft cloth and a mild alkaline detergent. Wipe your knife after cleaning to ensure that tit is thoroughly dry – this will prevent any pitting on the blade. You can occasionally maintain knives with wooden handles with food-safe oils (e.g. olive oil). The oil makes the handle nice and smooth and prevents shrinkage and cracks.

PROFESSIONAL KNIFE STORAGE
For your safety and to protect the cutting edges of the blades, we recommend that you store the knives in a suitable knife block or on a magnetic rail. When buying a knife block, make sure you buy one with enough space and horizontal slots to protect the knife blades. We recommend our own blade guard for storage in a drawer - Edge Guard. or alternatively, dimensionally accurate compartments built into the drawer.

BLADE GUARD FOR KNIVES
Blade guard – Edge Guard, the special blade guard for storage, especially in drawers. Click here to see the blade guard for blades up to 26 cm.

KNIFE BLOCK FOR KNIVES
Knife block: Knife block with tourne knife, paring knife, boning knife, carving knife, bread knife, chef's knife, meat fork, sharpening steel and kitchen shears.

HOW DO KNIVES STAY SHARP FOR A LONG TIME?
Knives stay sharp for a long time if they are only used for their intended purpose. The knives should only be used for cutting and not chopping. Bones or the like should therefore only be cut with a cleaver.

WOODEN OR PLASTIC CUTTING BASES
Hard surfaces such as stone (e.g. marble) or glass should not be used as a base, as they quickly blunt the knives.

People Also Ask:

Q: What is the Friedr. Dick Premier Plus Eurasia Santoku Knife Kullenschliff best for?

A: The Friedr. Dick Premier Plus Eurasia Santoku Knife Kullenschliff is best for precision slicing, fine vegetable prep, herbs, boneless proteins, and fast all-purpose kitchen work. Its Santoku profile combines the versatility of a chef’s knife with a flatter cutting edge that supports efficient push-cutting and controlled slicing. The Kullenschliff edge, also known as granton or hollow-edge indentations, helps reduce food sticking to the blade during repetitive prep tasks. Within the Premier Plus series, this knife is positioned as a forged professional tool designed for chefs and serious cooks who want balanced handling, clean cuts, and reliable long-term performance. It performs especially well in kitchens where speed, consistency, and fine control matter during high-volume prep.

Q: Who should use the Friedr. Dick Premier Plus Eurasia Santoku Knife?

A: The Friedr. Dick Premier Plus Eurasia Santoku Knife is well suited to professional chefs, culinary students, butchers performing fine prep, and experienced home cooks looking for a versatile forged knife. The knife’s balance and blade geometry make it approachable enough for users building knife skills while still meeting the expectations of demanding professional kitchens. The forged Premier Plus construction supports long-term durability and stable handling during extended prep sessions. For serious home cooks, the Santoku format offers a practical alternative to a traditional chef’s knife, especially for users who prefer precise slicing motions and lighter tip control.

Q: Can the Premier Plus Eurasia Santoku Knife handle high-volume prep work?

A: Yes. The Premier Plus Eurasia Santoku Knife is designed for repeated daily prep in professional kitchen environments. The forged blade construction provides stability and durability during continuous cutting tasks, while the ergonomic handle helps reduce hand fatigue over long prep sessions. The Santoku profile also supports fast, rhythmic slicing for vegetables, herbs, and proteins. In busy kitchens, the Kullenschliff edge becomes especially useful because it helps ingredients release more easily from the blade surface, improving workflow efficiency during repetitive prep.

Q: Is the Friedr. Dick Premier Plus Eurasia Santoku Knife suitable for beginners?

A: Yes, particularly for beginners who want to invest in a long-term professional-quality knife. The Santoku shape is often easier for newer users to control because of its shorter blade height and flatter edge profile. The balanced forged construction also gives the knife a stable feel during slicing and chopping. While the knife is built to professional standards, its versatility makes it practical for users learning proper knife techniques across a wide range of ingredients.

Q: What types of ingredients does the Premier Plus Eurasia Santoku Knife handle best?

A: The Premier Plus Eurasia Santoku Knife performs especially well with vegetables, herbs, boneless meats, fish, and fruit. Its blade profile supports thin slicing, precise cuts, and controlled chopping motions. The hollow-edge Kullenschliff design helps prevent softer or moist ingredients from clinging to the blade during prep. For kitchens preparing large quantities of vegetables or proteins, this combination of blade geometry and food release improves cutting efficiency and consistency.

Q: How durable is the Friedr. Dick Premier Plus Eurasia Santoku Knife?

A: The Premier Plus Eurasia Santoku Knife is built for long-term professional use with forged German knife construction and high-quality stainless steel. Forged knives generally offer greater structural strength and edge stability compared to stamped alternatives. Within the Premier Plus series, the knife is designed to maintain reliable cutting performance under demanding kitchen conditions. With proper sharpening and regular maintenance, the knife is suitable for years of daily use in both commercial and serious home kitchens.

Q: What cutting performance should users expect from the Premier Plus Santoku Knife?

A: Users should expect clean, controlled cuts with strong edge stability and smooth handling across a wide range of prep tasks. The Santoku profile supports efficient slicing and push-cutting, while the forged blade construction contributes to balanced weight distribution. The Kullenschliff edge helps improve food release during repetitive slicing work. This makes the knife particularly effective for precise vegetable prep, herbs, fish, and proteins where clean presentation matters.

Q: Does the Kullenschliff edge make a noticeable difference?

A: Yes. The Kullenschliff indentations help reduce surface friction and improve food release during slicing. Ingredients such as potatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, and proteins are less likely to stick tightly against the blade surface. This improves workflow speed and helps maintain smoother cutting motions during prep. In professional kitchens, this feature becomes especially useful during repetitive high-volume cutting tasks.

Q: Is the Premier Plus Eurasia Santoku Knife comfortable for extended prep sessions?

A: Yes. The knife is designed with balance and ergonomic handling in mind for professional kitchen use. The forged construction creates a stable feel in hand, while the handle shape supports secure grip control during repetitive slicing and chopping. This helps reduce fatigue during longer prep periods. For chefs working multiple stations or extended mise en place sessions, handling comfort becomes a major advantage over lower-quality entry-level knives.

Q: How easy is the Friedr. Dick Premier Plus Santoku Knife to maintain?

A: The knife is relatively straightforward to maintain when proper knife care practices are followed. Regular honing helps maintain edge alignment between sharpenings, while periodic professional sharpening restores long-term cutting performance. Hand washing and immediate drying are recommended to preserve the blade and handle finish. Like most professional forged knives, the Premier Plus Santoku performs best when treated as a precision kitchen tool rather than a general-purpose utility knife.

Q: Can the Premier Plus Santoku Knife replace a chef’s knife?

A: For many users, yes. A Santoku knife can handle most daily kitchen prep tasks typically assigned to a chef’s knife. The flatter edge profile supports efficient slicing and chopping, while the blade height provides good knuckle clearance during prep. Many users prefer Santoku knives for vegetable-heavy workflows and precision cutting tasks. However, users who frequently perform rocking cuts or large-volume butchery may still prefer a traditional Western chef’s knife alongside a Santoku.

Q: What is included with the Friedr. Dick Premier Plus Eurasia Santoku Knife?

A: The product includes the forged Santoku knife from the Premier Plus series with Kullenschliff blade design. Depending on the retailer or configuration, packaging may vary, but the knife itself is intended as a standalone professional cutting tool rather than part of a multi-piece set. Users commonly pair it with sharpening steels, knife guards, or storage solutions to support long-term maintenance.

Q: What makes the Premier Plus series different from entry-level knife lines?

A: The Premier Plus series focuses on forged professional construction, balance, durability, and long-term handling performance. Compared with entry-level stamped knives, forged knives generally provide improved structural strength, more refined balance, and better edge stability during demanding prep work. Within the Friedr. Dick lineup, Premier Plus is positioned as a classic professional workhorse series for chefs who prioritize dependable daily performance.

Q: How does the Premier Plus Eurasia Santoku compare to a traditional Western chef’s knife?

A: The Premier Plus Eurasia Santoku emphasizes precision slicing and push-cutting, while traditional chef’s knives often favor rocking motions and broader all-purpose use. Santoku knives typically have a flatter edge profile and slightly shorter blade height, giving many users greater control for vegetables and fine slicing tasks. The Kullenschliff edge also improves food release compared with many standard chef’s knives. For users focused on precise prep and efficient slicing workflows, the Santoku format can feel faster and more agile.

Q: How does the Premier Plus Santoku compare to the Friedr. Dick Red Spirit Santoku?

A: The Premier Plus Santoku focuses on classic forged German knife construction and traditional professional handling, while the Red Spirit series emphasizes a more modern visual identity and lighter feel. Premier Plus appeals strongly to chefs who prefer a conventional forged workhorse knife with balanced weight distribution. Red Spirit often attracts users looking for a more contemporary ergonomic profile and distinctive styling. Both are professional-grade options, but the choice usually comes down to preferred handling characteristics and series aesthetics.

Q: How does the Premier Plus Santoku compare to Japanese-style Santoku knives?

A: The Premier Plus Santoku combines Japanese-inspired Santoku functionality with German forged knife construction and durability. Many Japanese Santoku knives prioritize extremely thin blade geometry and lightweight handling. The Premier Plus offers a slightly more robust feel while still maintaining precision cutting performance and strong edge control. This makes it appealing to users who want Santoku versatility with the familiar balance and durability associated with German professional knives.

Q: Is the Premier Plus Eurasia Santoku Knife reliable for professional kitchen service?

A: Yes. The knife is designed for demanding commercial kitchen environments where consistency, edge retention, and handling comfort matter throughout extended prep shifts. Its forged construction supports long-term durability, while the Kullenschliff blade improves workflow efficiency during repetitive slicing tasks. For chefs managing heavy mise en place production, the knife offers dependable all-purpose versatility without excessive weight. This makes it particularly suitable for prep stations, garde manger work, and vegetable-intensive kitchens.

Q: Is the Premier Plus Santoku a good upgrade knife for culinary students?

A: Yes. The knife offers professional-level construction while remaining versatile enough for developing core knife skills. Culinary students benefit from using a forged knife that teaches proper balance, grip control, and cutting technique early in their training. The Santoku format also handles a broad range of prep tasks commonly encountered in culinary programs. Because the knife can transition easily from school environments into professional kitchens, it represents a practical long-term investment.

Q: Is the Friedr. Dick Premier Plus Santoku suitable for serious home cooks?

A: Yes. Serious home cooks who prepare fresh ingredients regularly will benefit from the knife’s precision, balance, and versatility. The Santoku profile works especially well for home kitchens focused on vegetables, herbs, fish, and everyday meal prep. The forged construction also provides a more refined cutting experience than many consumer-grade knives. For users looking to move into professional-quality kitchen tools, the Premier Plus series offers a durable and practical step forward.

Q: Why do professional chefs choose forged Santoku knives like the Premier Plus Eurasia?

A: Professional chefs often choose forged Santoku knives because they combine precision cutting performance with long-term structural durability. The forged construction contributes to balance and edge stability, while the Santoku shape supports fast, efficient prep across many ingredient categories. The Kullenschliff edge further improves speed by reducing ingredient adhesion during slicing. In real kitchen environments, these details help improve consistency, comfort, and prep efficiency over time.
