QUALITY AT A LOWER PRICE
Now working in the kitchen is even more fun! You can choose between a wide range of different knife shapes to suit your cutting tasks. Most of the types from the ProDynamic series are available with different handle colours and ensure compliance with HACCP guidelines.

STEEL QUALITY
The steel X55CrMo14 is the heart of the series. The laser-tested cutting edge guarantees a sharp edge and thus a consistently good cutting performance. This means you cut cleanly and don't crush your food. This preserves valuable ingredients and flavours of your food.

ERGONOMIC HANDLE
The full plastic handle is optimally adapted to your hand. The softer plastic handle gives you a comfortable feeling when cutting and the handle feels light and secure in your hand. The thumb rest optimises the grip when reaching over to weigh and chop. Your knife fits comfortably in your hand so you can work efficiently and accurately.

QUALITY
Each knife is inspected at the end of the production process against F. DICK's high quality standards. The blade spine is rounded, preventing cuts when you need to reach over. The knife falls from the back position and therefore increases work safety in accordance with the standards of the employers' liability insurance association.

KNIFE CARE
All F. DICK knives deserve special care and attention when it comes to maintenance. Proper knife care is crucial. Knives that are forged or have a wooden handle should never be cleaned in the dishwasher. Knives with plastic handles are completely dishwasher safe; however cleaning in a dishwasher is much more aggressive than washing by hand.

The use of highly concentrated detergents, leaving the knives in hot steam for a long time and also the presence of certain food residues can lead to pitting on the blades or even corrosion. We recommend clean the knife by hand with a soft cloth and a mild alkaline detergent. Wipe your knife after cleaning to ensure that tit is thoroughly dry – this will prevent any pitting on the blade. You can occasionally maintain knives with wooden handles with food-safe oils (e.g. olive oil). The oil makes the handle nice and smooth and prevents shrinkage and cracks.

PROFESSIONAL KNIFE STORAGE
For your safety and to protect the cutting edges of the blades, we recommend that you store the knives in a suitable knife block or on a magnetic rail. When buying a knife block, make sure you buy one with enough space and horizontal slots to protect the knife blades. We recommend our own blade guard for storage in a drawer - Edge Guard. or alternatively, dimensionally accurate compartments built into the drawer.

BLADE GUARD FOR KNIVES
Blade guard – Edge Guard, the special blade guard for storage, especially in drawers. Click here to see the blade guard for blades up to 26 cm.

KNIFE BLOCK FOR KNIVES
Knife block: Knife block with tourne knife, paring knife, boning knife, carving knife, bread knife, chef's knife, meat fork, sharpening steel and kitchen shears.

HOW DO KNIVES STAY SHARP FOR A LONG TIME?
Knives stay sharp for a long time if they are only used for their intended purpose. The knives should only be used for cutting and not chopping.
Bones or the like should therefore only be cut with a cleaver.

WOODEN OR PLASTIC CUTTING BASES
Hard surfaces such as stone (e.g. marble) or glass should not be used as a base, as they quickly blunt the knives.

FAQ

FAQ

People Also Ask:

Q: What is the F. Dick ProDynamic Bread Knife, Serrated, Black, 10" best for?

A: The F. Dick ProDynamic Bread Knife is designed for clean slicing of bread, buns, baguettes, cakes, and other foods with firm exteriors and soft interiors. Its serrated edge grips the crust before cutting, helping reduce crushing and tearing during slicing. This makes it especially useful in bakeries, cafés, sandwich shops, hotel breakfast operations, and restaurant kitchens where presentation and consistency matter. The 10-inch blade length also provides enough cutting stroke to handle larger loaves efficiently, reducing the need for excessive sawing motions during prep.

Q: Who should use the F. Dick ProDynamic Bread Knife?

A: This knife is suitable for professional chefs, bakery staff, culinary students, institutional foodservice teams, and serious home cooks. The ProDynamic series is positioned as a practical professional range that prioritizes functionality, ergonomics, and value. It is particularly attractive for operations that require dependable daily-use knives without moving into premium forged collections. For buyers equipping multiple workstations or training environments, the ProDynamic range provides a consistent platform across different knife types.

Q: Can the F. Dick ProDynamic Bread Knife handle artisan breads and crusty loaves?

A: Yes. The serrated blade is specifically suited to breads with thick or hard crusts. The teeth of the blade penetrate the crust first and then continue through the softer interior. This helps maintain loaf structure while producing cleaner slices. For bakeries and foodservice operations serving sourdough, baguettes, ciabatta, and artisan breads, this style of blade is often preferred over a straight-edge knife.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Bread Knife suitable for cakes and pastries?

A: Yes, particularly for sponge cakes, layered cakes, and pastries with delicate interiors. The serrated edge helps slice through outer layers while minimizing compression of softer textures. This can improve portion consistency and presentation. Many pastry departments keep a dedicated bread knife available because of its versatility across baked goods.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Bread Knife suitable for beginners or professionals?

A: It is suitable for both. Professional users benefit from its practical design and ability to perform repetitive slicing tasks efficiently. Culinary students and newer cooks benefit from the straightforward handling characteristics of the ProDynamic series. Because ProDynamic is positioned as a professional-value range, it is commonly suited to training environments, institutional kitchens, and high-volume prep operations.

Q: How effective is the serrated edge on the F. Dick ProDynamic Bread Knife?

A: The serrated edge is designed to maintain cutting performance on foods that are difficult to slice cleanly with a straight edge. Instead of relying on a push cut, the blade uses a controlled sawing action that helps cut through crusts, skins, and delicate interiors with less damage. This makes it useful for bread, cakes, sandwich rolls, and certain fruits with firm skins.

Q: What results should users expect from the F. Dick ProDynamic Bread Knife?

A: Users should expect cleaner slices, improved portion consistency, and reduced crushing of baked products. The long blade and serrated edge combination allow the knife to move through products efficiently while maintaining control. In commercial environments, this can contribute to a more consistent presentation across servings.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Bread Knife durable enough for daily commercial use?

A: The ProDynamic series is designed as a professional-use product line intended for regular kitchen use. Its position within the Friedr. Dick range focuses on dependable daily performance and practical utility rather than decorative features. This makes it well suited to restaurants, bakeries, cafeterias, and culinary education programs where knives are used frequently throughout the day.

Q: Is a 10" bread knife a good size for professional kitchens?

A: Yes. A 10-inch blade offers versatility across a wide range of bread and bakery products. The additional length allows users to slice larger loaves using fewer cutting strokes, which can improve efficiency and control. Many commercial kitchens consider a blade in this size range a practical all-purpose bread knife.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Bread Knife comfortable for extended prep work?

A: The ProDynamic range is known for its practical, ergonomic approach to professional knife design. For users performing repetitive slicing tasks, comfortable handling can help maintain control and reduce fatigue over long prep sessions. This is particularly valuable in bakery production, sandwich preparation, and breakfast service environments.

Q: Can the F. Dick ProDynamic Bread Knife be used for tomatoes and other soft produce?

A: Yes. Many chefs use serrated bread knives for large tomatoes, citrus fruits, melons, and other produce with delicate interiors and firmer outer skins. The serrations help initiate the cut without excessive pressure, reducing damage to the product.

Q: Does the F. Dick ProDynamic Bread Knife require regular sharpening?

A: Serrated knives typically require sharpening less frequently than straight-edge knives because the cutting points remain protected between the serrations. However, regular maintenance and proper storage remain important for long-term performance. Friedr. Dick is known for offering a complete knife maintenance ecosystem, including sharpening tools and steels designed to support knife longevity.

Q: What accessories pair well with the F. Dick ProDynamic Bread Knife?

A: Common accessories include knife sheaths, knife storage systems, knife rolls, magnetic storage solutions, and appropriate sharpening equipment. For professional environments, safe storage helps protect both the blade and the user. Buyers often pair bread knives with chef's knives, paring knives, and sharpening tools from the same knife system to create a consistent workflow.

Q: What makes the ProDynamic series different from other F. Dick knife series?

A: ProDynamic focuses on professional functionality, value, and everyday usability. Compared with premium series such as 1905, Premier Plus, Vivum, or 1778, ProDynamic emphasizes practical performance and accessibility while maintaining the professional orientation associated with the Friedr. Dick brand. It is often selected by culinary schools, institutional kitchens, and operations purchasing multiple knives.

Q: What is included with the F. Dick ProDynamic Bread Knife?

A: The product includes the bread knife itself. Any additional accessories, storage solutions, sharpening tools, or protective sheaths are generally purchased separately unless otherwise specified on the product page. Buyers should review the product listing for the latest package contents.

Q: How does the F. Dick ProDynamic Bread Knife compare with the F. Dick Premier Plus Bread Knife?

A: The ProDynamic Bread Knife focuses on practical professional performance and value, while Premier Plus is positioned as a higher-tier forged professional series. For many kitchens, the choice depends on budget, personal preference, and the desired level of refinement in construction and finish. Both are designed for professional food preparation, but they serve different purchasing priorities.

Q: How does the F. Dick ProDynamic Bread Knife compare with the F. Dick 1905 Bread Knife?

A: The 1905 series represents one of Friedr. Dick's premium heritage collections and incorporates distinctive design elements and premium construction features. The ProDynamic Bread Knife is positioned as a more accessible workhorse option that focuses on daily utility and operational value. For many buyers, the decision comes down to whether the priority is premium craftsmanship or efficient large-scale deployment.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Bread Knife reliable for high-volume bakery production?

A: Yes. The knife is well suited to repetitive slicing tasks commonly found in bakery and foodservice environments. Its long serrated blade is designed to process crusty and soft baked goods efficiently while maintaining portion consistency. For bakeries producing bread, rolls, and pastries throughout the day, this knife aligns well with the practical requirements of commercial production.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Bread Knife a good choice for culinary students?

A: Yes. The ProDynamic series is often attractive to culinary students because it provides access to a professional knife platform without the investment typically associated with premium collections. Students can develop proper knife skills using equipment designed for real kitchen environments while building familiarity with the broader Friedr. Dick ecosystem.

Q: Does the F. Dick ProDynamic Bread Knife fit institutional and foodservice workflows?

A: Yes. Its practical design, professional orientation, and broad application across bakery, sandwich, breakfast, and prep operations make it suitable for institutional kitchens, cafeterias, healthcare foodservice, and hospitality environments. For organizations standardizing equipment across multiple stations, the ProDynamic range offers consistency and operational simplicity.
