QUALITY AT A LOWER PRICE
Now working in the kitchen is even more fun! You can choose between a wide range of different knife shapes to suit your cutting tasks. Most of the types from the ProDynamic series are available with different handle colours and ensure compliance with HACCP guidelines.

STEEL QUALITY
The steel X55CrMo14 is the heart of the series. The laser-tested cutting edge guarantees a sharp edge and thus a consistently good cutting performance. This means you cut cleanly and don't crush your food. This preserves valuable ingredients and flavours of your food.

ERGONOMIC HANDLE
The full plastic handle is optimally adapted to your hand. The softer plastic handle gives you a comfortable feeling when cutting and the handle feels light and secure in your hand. The thumb rest optimises the grip when reaching over to weigh and chop. Your knife fits comfortably in your hand so you can work efficiently and accurately.

QUALITY
Each knife is inspected at the end of the production process against F. DICK's high quality standards. The blade spine is rounded, preventing cuts when you need to reach over. The knife falls from the back position and therefore increases work safety in accordance with the standards of the employers' liability insurance association.

KNIFE CARE
All F. DICK knives deserve special care and attention when it comes to maintenance. Proper knife care is crucial. Knives that are forged or have a wooden handle should never be cleaned in the dishwasher. Knives with plastic handles are completely dishwasher safe; however cleaning in a dishwasher is much more aggressive than washing by hand.

The use of highly concentrated detergents, leaving the knives in hot steam for a long time and also the presence of certain food residues can lead to pitting on the blades or even corrosion. We recommend clean the knife by hand with a soft cloth and a mild alkaline detergent. Wipe your knife after cleaning to ensure that tit is thoroughly dry – this will prevent any pitting on the blade. You can occasionally maintain knives with wooden handles with food-safe oils (e.g. olive oil). The oil makes the handle nice and smooth and prevents shrinkage and cracks.

PROFESSIONAL KNIFE STORAGE
For your safety and to protect the cutting edges of the blades, we recommend that you store the knives in a suitable knife block or on a magnetic rail. When buying a knife block, make sure you buy one with enough space and horizontal slots to protect the knife blades. We recommend our own blade guard for storage in a drawer - Edge Guard. or alternatively, dimensionally accurate compartments built into the drawer.

BLADE GUARD FOR KNIVES
Blade guard – Edge Guard, the special blade guard for storage, especially in drawers. Click here to see the blade guard for blades up to 26 cm.

KNIFE BLOCK FOR KNIVES
Knife block: Knife block with tourne knife, paring knife, boning knife, carving knife, bread knife, chef's knife, meat fork, sharpening steel and kitchen shears.

HOW DO KNIVES STAY SHARP FOR A LONG TIME?
Knives stay sharp for a long time if they are only used for their intended purpose. The knives should only be used for cutting and not chopping.
Bones or the like should therefore only be cut with a cleaver.

WOODEN OR PLASTIC CUTTING BASES
Hard surfaces such as stone (e.g. marble) or glass should not be used as a base, as they quickly blunt the knives.

The broad blade profile and curved cutting edge support common techniques such as push cutting, rocking cuts, and chopping. The ProDynamic series combines practical performance with value-oriented pricing, making it suitable for daily food preparation without sacrificing cutting quality. The laser-tested edge and German stainless steel blade help deliver clean, consistent cuts across vegetables, herbs, meat, and fish.

Q: Who should use the F.Dick ProDynamic Chef Knife?

A: The F.Dick ProDynamic Chef Knife is suitable for professional chefs, culinary students, institutional kitchens, catering teams, and serious home cooks. Its ergonomic handle, practical blade geometry, and accessible price point make it especially attractive for users who need reliable daily performance. Culinary schools, healthcare foodservice operations, restaurants, and high-volume prep environments can all benefit from its straightforward design. For buyers entering the Friedr. Dick ecosystem, the ProDynamic Chef Knife is often one of the most accessible ways to experience the brand's professional cutting performance.

Q: Can the F.Dick ProDynamic Chef Knife handle high-volume food preparation?

A: Yes. The F.Dick ProDynamic Chef Knife is designed for repeated daily use in busy food preparation environments. The X55CrMo14 stainless steel blade provides dependable edge performance, while the ergonomic handle helps reduce hand fatigue during extended prep sessions. Its balance of cutting efficiency and comfort makes it suitable for prep stations that process large quantities of vegetables, proteins, and herbs. The knife's practical design focuses on productivity rather than decorative features, which is why it is frequently selected for commercial kitchen environments.

Q: Is the F.Dick ProDynamic Chef Knife suitable for beginners or professionals?

A: The F.Dick ProDynamic Chef Knife works well for both beginners and professionals. New cooks benefit from its comfortable grip, manageable handling characteristics, and straightforward maintenance requirements. Professional users appreciate its reliable cutting performance and practical construction. This combination of accessibility and professional-grade utility is one of the defining characteristics of the ProDynamic series.

Q: Can the F.Dick ProDynamic Chef Knife be used for meat, fish, and vegetables?

A: Yes. The chef knife format is specifically designed to handle a broad range of kitchen tasks. The blade shape allows users to process vegetables, trim proteins, slice fish, chop herbs, and perform general preparation work. For many kitchens, a chef knife serves as the primary tool used throughout the day. While specialized knives may perform certain tasks more efficiently, the ProDynamic Chef Knife is intended to cover the majority of everyday cutting requirements.

Q: How sharp is the F.Dick ProDynamic Chef Knife?

A: The F.Dick ProDynamic Chef Knife features a laser-tested cutting edge designed to provide consistent sharpness. A sharp edge helps reduce food damage during cutting by producing cleaner cuts rather than crushing ingredients. This can help preserve texture, appearance, and flavour in prepared foods. Each knife is inspected according to Friedr. Dick quality standards before leaving production.

Q: What steel is used in the F.Dick ProDynamic Chef Knife?

A: The F.Dick ProDynamic Chef Knife uses X55CrMo14 stainless steel. This German stainless steel is selected for its balance of corrosion resistance, durability, edge performance, and ease of maintenance. It is well suited to commercial kitchens where knives are used frequently and require dependable performance throughout service. The steel choice reflects the ProDynamic series focus on practical, everyday utility.

Q: What results should users expect from the F.Dick ProDynamic Chef Knife?

A: Users should expect clean, controlled cuts and dependable day-to-day performance. The laser-tested edge and ergonomic handle work together to support accuracy and efficiency during food preparation. Whether preparing vegetables, proteins, or herbs, the knife is designed to maintain consistent cutting behaviour. For many operators, this consistency is more valuable than highly specialized features because it supports predictable workflow performance.

Q: How comfortable is the F.Dick ProDynamic Chef Knife during extended use?

A: The ProDynamic Chef Knife is designed with a soft, ergonomic plastic handle that promotes secure and comfortable handling. The handle includes a thumb rest that helps improve grip control during chopping and slicing tasks. The lightweight feel and ergonomic shape can help reduce fatigue during longer preparation sessions. This focus on handling comfort is particularly valuable in professional kitchens where knives are used continuously throughout the day.

Q: Does the F.Dick ProDynamic Chef Knife support HACCP colour-coding programs?

A: Yes. The ProDynamic series is available in multiple handle colours that can support HACCP-based food preparation systems. Colour-coded knives help kitchens separate tools by ingredient category, reducing the risk of cross-contamination. This can be particularly important in healthcare, institutional, and commercial foodservice environments. Handle colour availability may vary by blade size and inventory.

Q: What cutting boards work best with the F.Dick ProDynamic Chef Knife?

A: Wood and food-grade plastic cutting boards are generally recommended. Hard surfaces such as stone, glass, or marble can dull knife edges more quickly. Using an appropriate cutting surface helps extend edge life and maintain cutting performance. This recommendation applies to professional and home kitchen environments alike.

Q: What accessories are commonly paired with the F.Dick ProDynamic Chef Knife?

A: Common accessories include sharpening steels, blade guards, knife blocks, magnetic rails, and professional cutting boards. Proper storage helps protect the cutting edge, while regular edge maintenance helps preserve performance. Many professional users pair their chef knife with a sharpening steel as part of their daily workflow. A complete knife system improves both safety and longevity.

Q: Is the F.Dick ProDynamic Chef Knife easy to maintain?

A: Yes. The knife is designed for straightforward maintenance. Hand washing, immediate drying, proper storage, and regular edge maintenance help preserve performance over time. Although the handle material is dishwasher resistant, hand washing remains the preferred method because it is gentler on the blade. Consistent care supports both hygiene and cutting performance.

Q: What blade sizes are available for the F.Dick ProDynamic Chef Knife?

A: The F.Dick ProDynamic Chef Knife is available in 6.5-inch, 8.5-inch, and 10-inch blade lengths. Smaller sizes may appeal to users seeking greater maneuverability, while longer blades can improve efficiency when processing larger ingredients and higher volumes. The choice typically depends on personal preference, hand size, and workflow requirements.

Q: What is included when purchasing the F.Dick ProDynamic Chef Knife?

A: The purchase includes the chef knife itself in the selected blade length and handle colour. Accessories such as sharpening steels, blade guards, knife blocks, and cutting boards are generally sold separately. Buyers should review the product configuration when ordering to confirm available options. This allows users to build a knife system suited to their specific workflow.

Q: How does the F.Dick ProDynamic Chef Knife compare with the F.Dick ActiveCut Chef Knife?

A: The ProDynamic Chef Knife emphasizes affordability and practical performance, while the ActiveCut series targets users seeking a more premium forged construction. Both are designed for professional kitchen environments, but the ProDynamic series focuses on delivering dependable cutting performance at a lower entry cost. For culinary students, institutions, and kitchens purchasing multiple knives, ProDynamic often represents the more economical choice.

Q: How does the F.Dick ProDynamic Chef Knife compare with premium chef knives such as the 1905 or Premier Plus series?

A: The ProDynamic Chef Knife prioritizes function, ergonomics, and value. Premium series such as 1905 and Premier Plus incorporate higher-end construction details, forged designs, and more premium finishing. However, the ProDynamic Chef Knife still delivers the core performance expected from a professional chef knife. For many kitchens, the decision comes down to budget, aesthetic preferences, and long-term equipment strategy rather than basic cutting capability.

Q: Is the F.Dick ProDynamic Chef Knife a good first professional chef knife?

A: Yes. The F.Dick ProDynamic Chef Knife is one of the most accessible entry points into professional-grade German cutlery. It provides the blade profile, handling characteristics, and cutting performance expected in commercial kitchens while remaining budget-conscious for students building their first knife kit.

Q: Is the F.Dick ProDynamic Chef Knife reliable for daily service?

A: Yes. The knife is designed for consistent daily use and supports the core cutting tasks performed during professional food preparation. Its ergonomic handle, dependable steel, and practical blade design make it a useful workhorse for prep-intensive stations.

Q: Is the F.Dick ProDynamic Chef Knife suitable for institutional kitchens?

A: Yes. The ProDynamic series is particularly well suited to institutional, healthcare, education, and large-scale foodservice environments. Its HACCP-friendly colour options, practical maintenance requirements, and value-focused pricing support fleet purchasing and standardized kitchen operations.
