QUALITY AT A LOWER PRICE
Now working in the kitchen is even more fun! You can choose between a wide range of different knife shapes to suit your cutting tasks. Most of the types from the ProDynamic series are available with different handle colours and ensure compliance with HACCP guidelines.

STEEL QUALITY
The steel X55CrMo14 is the heart of the series. The laser-tested cutting edge guarantees a sharp edge and thus a consistently good cutting performance. This means you cut cleanly and don't crush your food. This preserves valuable ingredients and flavours of your food.

ERGONOMIC HANDLE
The full plastic handle is optimally adapted to your hand. The softer plastic handle gives you a comfortable feeling when cutting and the handle feels light and secure in your hand. The thumb rest optimises the grip when reaching over to weigh and chop. Your knife fits comfortably in your hand so you can work efficiently and accurately.

QUALITY
Each knife is inspected at the end of the production process against F. DICK's high quality standards. The blade spine is rounded, preventing cuts when you need to reach over. The knife falls from the back position and therefore increases work safety in accordance with the standards of the employers' liability insurance association.

KNIFE CARE
All F. DICK knives deserve special care and attention when it comes to maintenance. Proper knife care is crucial. Knives that are forged or have a wooden handle should never be cleaned in the dishwasher. Knives with plastic handles are completely dishwasher safe; however cleaning in a dishwasher is much more aggressive than washing by hand.

The use of highly concentrated detergents, leaving the knives in hot steam for a long time and also the presence of certain food residues can lead to pitting on the blades or even corrosion. We recommend clean the knife by hand with a soft cloth and a mild alkaline detergent. Wipe your knife after cleaning to ensure that tit is thoroughly dry – this will prevent any pitting on the blade. You can occasionally maintain knives with wooden handles with food-safe oils (e.g. olive oil). The oil makes the handle nice and smooth and prevents shrinkage and cracks.

PROFESSIONAL KNIFE STORAGE
For your safety and to protect the cutting edges of the blades, we recommend that you store the knives in a suitable knife block or on a magnetic rail. When buying a knife block, make sure you buy one with enough space and horizontal slots to protect the knife blades. We recommend our own blade guard for storage in a drawer - Edge Guard. or alternatively, dimensionally accurate compartments built into the drawer.

BLADE GUARD FOR KNIVES
Blade guard – Edge Guard, the special blade guard for storage, especially in drawers. Click here to see the blade guard for blades up to 26 cm.

KNIFE BLOCK FOR KNIVES
Knife block: Knife block with tourne knife, paring knife, boning knife, carving knife, bread knife, chef's knife, meat fork, sharpening steel and kitchen shears.

HOW DO KNIVES STAY SHARP FOR A LONG TIME?
Knives stay sharp for a long time if they are only used for their intended purpose. The knives should only be used for cutting and not chopping.
Bones or the like should therefore only be cut with a cleaver.

WOODEN OR PLASTIC CUTTING BASES
Hard surfaces such as stone (e.g. marble) or glass should not be used as a base, as they quickly blunt the knives.

FAQ

FAQ

People Also Ask:

Q: What is the F. Dick ProDynamic Santoku Knife Kullenschliff Black 7" best for?

A: The F. Dick ProDynamic Santoku Knife Kullenschliff Black 7" is best for fast, precise preparation of vegetables, boneless proteins, herbs, and everyday kitchen ingredients. As a Santoku knife, it is designed to handle a wide range of prep tasks using a shorter, highly controllable blade profile. Many chefs use a Santoku as an alternative to a traditional chef's knife when precision and maneuverability are priorities. The kullenschliff, also known as a granton edge, helps reduce food sticking to the blade during slicing. This is particularly useful when working with potatoes, cucumbers, onions, fish, and other ingredients that tend to cling to the blade.

Q: Who should use the F. Dick ProDynamic Santoku Knife Kullenschliff Black 7"?

A: This knife is suitable for professional chefs, culinary students, institutional kitchens, and serious home cooks. The ProDynamic series was developed as a practical, value-focused professional knife range that delivers dependable daily performance without the cost of premium forged collections. Its Santoku profile appeals to users who want one versatile knife for most daily prep work while maintaining excellent control during repetitive cutting tasks.

Q: Why would someone choose a Santoku knife instead of a chef's knife?

A: A Santoku knife offers a shorter blade profile and a flatter cutting edge that many users find easier to control. The design excels at slicing, dicing, and fine vegetable work. Many cooks appreciate the compact feel when working in tighter prep areas or when preparing large quantities of vegetables. For users who prefer push-cutting and straight chopping motions, a Santoku often feels more natural than a traditional rocking chef's knife.

Q: Can the F. Dick ProDynamic Santoku Knife handle high-volume vegetable preparation?

A: Yes, it is well suited for repetitive vegetable preparation in both commercial and home kitchens. The blade shape supports efficient slicing and chopping, while the kullenschliff edge helps minimize drag and sticking during extended prep sessions. This makes the knife particularly useful for ingredients such as onions, peppers, cucumbers, carrots, herbs, and leafy vegetables.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Santoku Knife suitable for protein preparation?

A: Yes, it performs well on boneless proteins such as poultry, fish, and trimmed meats. The blade length provides enough cutting surface for portioning and slicing while maintaining precise control. For heavy butchery work, bone cutting, or breaking down large primal cuts, a dedicated butcher, boning, or chef's knife remains the better choice.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Santoku Knife suitable for beginners or professionals?

A: It works well for both. New users often appreciate the manageable 7-inch blade length and versatile Santoku design. Professional users value the knife's practicality, efficiency, and ability to perform reliably during daily prep. This combination makes it a common choice for culinary schools, training kitchens, and professional foodservice environments.

Q: How durable is the F. Dick ProDynamic Santoku Knife Kullenschliff Black 7"?

A: The knife is designed for regular professional kitchen use. F. Dick's reputation is built on producing knives intended for demanding culinary environments where reliability, balance, and edge performance matter. With proper sharpening, honing, and care, the knife can provide long-term service in both commercial and residential kitchens.

Q: What results should users expect from the kullenschliff blade design?

A: Users should expect smoother slicing and less food sticking to the blade. The indentations along the blade create small air pockets between the knife and the food being cut. This can improve efficiency when preparing ingredients that would otherwise cling to the blade surface. The result is cleaner workflow and less interruption during prep.

Q: How does the 7-inch blade length affect performance?

A: The 7-inch blade balances versatility and control. It is long enough for most daily prep tasks while remaining agile in crowded prep stations or smaller kitchens. Many users find this size especially comfortable for vegetable preparation, sandwich production, and general station work.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Santoku Knife comfortable for extended prep sessions?

A: Yes, it is designed as a practical workhorse knife for repeated daily use. The ProDynamic series focuses on ergonomics and professional utility, making it well suited to environments where knives are used continuously throughout a shift. Comfortable handling helps reduce fatigue during repetitive cutting tasks.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Santoku Knife easy to maintain?

A: Yes, maintenance is straightforward. Regular honing helps maintain edge alignment, while periodic sharpening restores cutting performance over time. Because F. Dick also produces professional sharpening systems, users can maintain a consistent edge-management routine using compatible tools from the same manufacturer.

Q: Can the F. Dick ProDynamic Santoku Knife be used as an all-purpose kitchen knife?

A: For many users, yes. A Santoku knife can handle the majority of everyday cutting tasks, including vegetables, herbs, fruit, poultry, fish, and boneless meats. Many professional and home kitchens use a Santoku as their primary prep knife due to its versatility.

Q: Does the F. Dick ProDynamic Santoku Knife require special cutting techniques?

A: No. The knife works well with standard slicing, push-cutting, chopping, and dicing techniques. Users familiar with chef's knives can transition easily, although many find the Santoku's flatter profile encourages a more direct chopping motion.

Q: What is included with the F. Dick ProDynamic Santoku Knife Kullenschliff Black 7"?

A: The product includes the Santoku knife itself. Users seeking a complete knife maintenance system may also consider pairing it with a sharpening steel, knife sheath, or storage solution depending on their workflow requirements.

Q: Where does the ProDynamic series fit within the F. Dick knife lineup?

A: ProDynamic is the practical, value-oriented professional series within the F. Dick range. It is positioned as a dependable everyday workhorse that delivers professional performance while remaining accessible for culinary students, institutional kitchens, and cost-conscious operations. For users seeking more premium aesthetics or forged construction, series such as ActiveCut, Premier Plus, 1905, and 1778 sit higher in the product hierarchy.

Q: How does the F. Dick ProDynamic Santoku Knife compare to the F. Dick ActiveCut Santoku Knife?

A: Both knives serve a similar purpose and feature a 7-inch Santoku profile with kullenschliff design. The primary difference is positioning within the F. Dick lineup. ProDynamic focuses on practical value and accessibility, while ActiveCut targets users seeking a more premium professional experience. The best choice depends on budget, personal preference, and how heavily the knife will be used.

Q: How does the F. Dick ProDynamic Santoku Knife compare to a traditional German chef's knife?

A: A Santoku generally offers greater maneuverability and a more compact feel. A traditional chef's knife typically provides a longer blade and a stronger rocking motion for larger cutting tasks. Users who focus heavily on vegetables and precise prep often prefer a Santoku, while users handling larger volumes of mixed ingredients may prefer a chef's knife.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Santoku Knife reliable in high-demand commercial kitchens?

A: Yes, it is designed to support repeated daily prep in professional foodservice environments. Its versatile blade profile, practical construction, and efficient food-release characteristics make it well suited to prep stations that require consistent performance throughout service. For operations purchasing multiple knives across stations, the ProDynamic series provides a cost-effective professional solution.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Santoku Knife a good first professional knife?

A: Yes, it is an excellent entry point into professional cutlery. The knife offers the core characteristics culinary students need: versatility, control, manageable size, and dependable performance. Because the ProDynamic series is frequently associated with value-focused professional use, it allows students to build proper knife skills without immediately investing in premium collections.

Q: Why would a serious home cook choose the F. Dick ProDynamic Santoku Knife?

A: It provides professional-style cutting performance in a practical and approachable format. The Santoku design handles most daily kitchen tasks, while the kullenschliff edge helps improve workflow during meal preparation. For home cooks seeking a versatile knife that reflects professional kitchen standards, it offers a strong balance of usability, control, and long-term value.
