QUALITY AT A LOWER PRICE
Now working in the kitchen is even more fun! You can choose between a wide range of different knife shapes to suit your cutting tasks. Most of the types from the ProDynamic series are available with different handle colours and ensure compliance with HACCP guidelines.

STEEL QUALITY
The steel X55CrMo14 is the heart of the series. The laser-tested cutting edge guarantees a sharp edge and thus a consistently good cutting performance. This means you cut cleanly and don't crush your food. This preserves valuable ingredients and flavours of your food.

ERGONOMIC HANDLE
The full plastic handle is optimally adapted to your hand. The softer plastic handle gives you a comfortable feeling when cutting and the handle feels light and secure in your hand. The thumb rest optimises the grip when reaching over to weigh and chop. Your knife fits comfortably in your hand so you can work efficiently and accurately.

QUALITY
Each knife is inspected at the end of the production process against F. DICK's high quality standards. The blade spine is rounded, preventing cuts when you need to reach over. The knife falls from the back position and therefore increases work safety in accordance with the standards of the employers' liability insurance association.

KNIFE CARE
All F. DICK knives deserve special care and attention when it comes to maintenance. Proper knife care is crucial. Knives that are forged or have a wooden handle should never be cleaned in the dishwasher. Knives with plastic handles are completely dishwasher safe; however cleaning in a dishwasher is much more aggressive than washing by hand.

The use of highly concentrated detergents, leaving the knives in hot steam for a long time and also the presence of certain food residues can lead to pitting on the blades or even corrosion. We recommend clean the knife by hand with a soft cloth and a mild alkaline detergent. Wipe your knife after cleaning to ensure that tit is thoroughly dry – this will prevent any pitting on the blade. You can occasionally maintain knives with wooden handles with food-safe oils (e.g. olive oil). The oil makes the handle nice and smooth and prevents shrinkage and cracks.

PROFESSIONAL KNIFE STORAGE
For your safety and to protect the cutting edges of the blades, we recommend that you store the knives in a suitable knife block or on a magnetic rail. When buying a knife block, make sure you buy one with enough space and horizontal slots to protect the knife blades. We recommend our own blade guard for storage in a drawer - Edge Guard. or alternatively, dimensionally accurate compartments built into the drawer.

BLADE GUARD FOR KNIVES
Blade guard – Edge Guard, the special blade guard for storage, especially in drawers. Click here to see the blade guard for blades up to 26 cm.

KNIFE BLOCK FOR KNIVES
Knife block: Knife block with tourne knife, paring knife, boning knife, carving knife, bread knife, chef's knife, meat fork, sharpening steel and kitchen shears.

HOW DO KNIVES STAY SHARP FOR A LONG TIME?
Knives stay sharp for a long time if they are only used for their intended purpose. The knives should only be used for cutting and not chopping.
Bones or the like should therefore only be cut with a cleaver.

WOODEN OR PLASTIC CUTTING BASES
Hard surfaces such as stone (e.g. marble) or glass should not be used as a base, as they quickly blunt the knives.

FAQ

FAQ

People Also Ask:

Q: What is the F. Dick ProDynamic Utility Knife Serrated Black 10" best for?

A: The F. Dick ProDynamic Utility Knife Serrated Black 10" is best for slicing foods with crusts, skins, or firm exteriors while maintaining clean cuts and product presentation. Its serrated edge is particularly useful for tomatoes, citrus fruits, sandwiches, rolls, small loaves of bread, and other ingredients that can be difficult to cut cleanly with a straight-edge knife. The serrations grip the surface before cutting through it, reducing tearing and crushing. Within a professional kitchen, this knife serves as a versatile utility tool for prep stations, sandwich production, garde manger work, and general-purpose cutting tasks where a chef's knife may feel oversized or unnecessary.

Q: Who should use the F. Dick ProDynamic Utility Knife Serrated Black 10"?

A: This knife is well suited for chefs, culinary students, foodservice operators, deli staff, caterers, and serious home cooks who need a dependable serrated utility knife. The ProDynamic series was developed as a professional-grade entry point into the Friedr. Dick range, offering practical performance and ergonomic handling without the premium pricing associated with forged collections. Its combination of sharpness, comfort, and affordability makes it particularly attractive for high-volume operations, culinary schools, and buyers equipping multiple workstations.

Q: Why would someone choose a serrated utility knife instead of a chef knife?

A: A serrated utility knife performs better when cutting foods with delicate interiors and tougher exteriors. The serrations help penetrate crusts and skins while preserving the texture of the product underneath. This makes it especially useful for breads, tomatoes, sandwiches, and certain fruits. While a chef knife remains the primary tool for general prep, a serrated utility knife often produces cleaner results on foods that tend to compress under a straight edge.

Q: Can the F. Dick ProDynamic Utility Knife Serrated Black 10" handle sandwich and deli preparation?

A: Yes. This knife is particularly well suited for sandwich stations, delis, cafés, and grab-and-go food preparation. The serrated blade easily slices through bread crusts while helping maintain the structure of fillings and toppings. This contributes to cleaner presentation and more consistent portions. For operators producing sandwiches throughout the day, the blade profile offers efficiency and control without requiring a larger bread knife.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Utility Knife Serrated Black 10" suitable for professional kitchens?

A: Yes. The knife was designed specifically for professional foodservice environments. The ProDynamic series combines German steel, ergonomic handling, and practical durability. The non-slip handle and thumb rest help support safe, controlled cutting during repetitive prep tasks. Its construction and quality-control standards make it appropriate for daily use in restaurants, institutional kitchens, catering operations, and food production environments.

Q: Is this knife suitable for culinary students and beginners?

A: Yes. The knife offers a balance of performance, comfort, and value that makes it accessible to developing cooks. The ergonomic handle promotes confidence and control, while the serrated edge remains effective for many common cutting tasks even between sharpening intervals. For culinary students building a practical knife kit, it can serve as a useful complement to a chef knife and paring knife.

Q: How durable is the F. Dick ProDynamic Utility Knife Serrated Black 10"?

A: The knife is built for repeated foodservice use with a stainless steel X55CrMo14 blade and a durable synthetic handle. The blade steel is designed to balance edge retention, corrosion resistance, and ease of maintenance. The handle construction provides secure grip and long-term durability in commercial environments. When used properly and maintained regularly, it can withstand the demands of everyday professional kitchen work.

Q: What cutting performance can users expect from the ProDynamic serrated utility knife?

A: Users can expect clean, controlled cuts with minimal crushing of delicate ingredients. The laser-tested cutting edge helps deliver consistent performance, while the serrated profile improves effectiveness on crusty, firm-skinned, or textured foods. This combination supports product quality by helping preserve ingredient structure, moisture, and presentation.

Q: How comfortable is the handle during extended prep sessions?

A: The ProDynamic handle is designed to provide comfort and control during repetitive use. Its softer synthetic construction sits securely in the hand, while the integrated thumb rest supports grip stability during slicing and precision work. For users performing frequent cutting tasks throughout a shift, these ergonomic features help reduce fatigue and improve handling confidence.

Q: Does the rounded blade spine improve safety?

A: Yes. The rounded blade spine contributes to safer handling during professional use. When reaching over the blade or changing grip positions, the rounded spine helps reduce discomfort and minimizes the likelihood of accidental contact injuries. Combined with the ergonomic handle design, this feature supports safer day-to-day kitchen operation.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Utility Knife Serrated Black 10" dishwasher safe?

A: The plastic handle can withstand dishwasher cleaning, but hand washing is strongly recommended. Commercial dishwashers expose knives to aggressive detergents, prolonged moisture, and high temperatures that may affect blade longevity and appearance over time. Hand washing followed by immediate drying helps maximize edge life and corrosion resistance.

Q: What cutting boards work best with this knife?

A: Wood and food-grade plastic cutting boards are recommended. These surfaces help protect the cutting edge and reduce unnecessary wear. Hard surfaces such as glass, marble, stone, or ceramic can dull the blade more quickly. Using the correct cutting surface contributes significantly to long-term knife performance.

Q: What storage accessories are recommended for this knife?

A: A knife block, magnetic knife rail, blade guard, or dedicated knife drawer system are all appropriate storage solutions. Proper storage protects the cutting edge while improving workplace safety. For mobile culinary professionals, a blade guard is often one of the most practical storage options.

Q: What makes the ProDynamic series different from other F. Dick knife series?

A: The ProDynamic series focuses on practical professional performance and value. Compared with premium collections such as 1905, Vivum, or Premier Plus, ProDynamic emphasizes affordability, ergonomic comfort, and reliable daily use rather than premium materials or forged construction. This positioning makes the series particularly attractive for commercial kitchens, culinary programs, and cost-conscious professional buyers.

Q: Are there other utility knives available within the F. Dick range?

A: Yes. Friedr. Dick offers utility knives across multiple series, including ActiveCut, Premier Plus, 1905, Vivum, and other premium collections. The primary differences typically involve construction methods, handle materials, blade design, aesthetics, and overall series positioning. The ProDynamic version remains one of the most economical options while still delivering professional-grade performance.

Q: How does the F. Dick ProDynamic Utility Knife compare with premium Friedr. Dick utility knives?

A: The ProDynamic Utility Knife prioritizes practicality and value, while premium series focus more heavily on elevated materials, forged construction, and refined finishing. Users still receive German blade steel, ergonomic handling, and dependable cutting performance. The main distinction is that premium collections may offer additional craftsmanship details, aesthetics, or balance characteristics. For many foodservice operations, the ProDynamic series delivers the performance required without the higher investment of premium models.

Q: Is the F. Dick ProDynamic Utility Knife reliable during busy service periods?

A: Yes. The knife is designed for repeated daily use in professional kitchens where speed, consistency, and control are critical. The ergonomic handle supports long prep sessions, while the serrated edge performs effectively on sandwich ingredients, fruits, breads, and garnishes throughout service. Its value-focused construction also makes it practical for equipping multiple stations.

Q: Is this knife suitable for off-site food preparation?

A: Yes. The knife's versatility makes it useful across a wide range of catering prep and finishing tasks. It handles breads, sandwiches, fruits, and plated garnishes efficiently while remaining compact enough for transport in knife rolls and culinary kits. This flexibility is valuable when working in temporary kitchens or event environments.

Q: Is the ProDynamic Utility Knife a good addition to a first knife kit?

A: Yes. It provides a practical introduction to professional-grade cutlery without requiring a premium investment. Students gain access to German knife manufacturing, ergonomic handling, and a useful blade style that complements traditional chef and paring knives. It can remain useful even as a student's knife collection grows.

Q: What advantages does this knife offer over standard household serrated knives?

A: The knife offers professional-grade steel, consistent manufacturing standards, and an ergonomically designed handle. These features help improve cutting control, comfort, and long-term durability compared with many entry-level household knives. For frequent home cooking, the difference is often noticeable in both handling and cutting performance.
